Store cupboard

With these things in the store cupboard many recipes are possible at a moment's notice, given the right fresh ingredients.   I am lucky and have a big pull out cupboard in the kitchen where I can store lots of tins and packets.  I have also slowly taken over the cupboard under the stairs, where I store huge 5kg bags of pasta and rice - both money saving and reducing the amount of plastic wrapping...
  • butter

  • large pots of natural and fruit yoghurt
  • juice
  • eggs
  • variety of British cheese
  • frozen peas, sweetcorn (peas now not in freezer after decision to stop buying them)
  • ice
  • left over portions of meals I have cooked, for days when I don't feel like cooking fresh
  • root ginger, garlic, fresh herbs (in pots?)
  • lime and lemon
  • seasonal vegetables
  • fruit
Dry goods
  • olive oil, vegetable oil, corn oil
  • variety of vinegars (e.g. malt, balsamic, red wine, white wine, raspberry)
  • spices: ground ginger, turmeric, ground coriander, ground cumin, coriander seeds, cumin seeds, cinnamon sticks, ground cinnamon, cloves, ground cloves, garam masala, caraway, fennel seeds, mustard seeds
  • soy sauce, mirin, Japanese rice vinegar
  • dried herbs: thyme, dill, basil 
  • variety of mustards (dijon, French, English, whole grain etc)
  • plain flour, self raising flour, bread flour
  • yeast
  • pasta: spaghetti, penne, tagliatelle
  • rice: brown rice, basmati, wild rice, sticky rice
  • couscous
  • tins of different types of beans
  • tins of olives, anchovies for high days and holidays
  • jar of capers
  • dried chickpeas, lentils and other pulses
  • dried mushrooms
  • tins of line and pole caught tuna
  • tins of coconut milk
  • oats
  • raisins, dried apricots and other dried fruit
  • crackers for cheese
  • jar of pesto sauce and a few tins of baked beans, spaghetti hoops and tomato soup for days when I just don't have the time or energy to be virtuous. 
  • variety of nuts and seeds
  • toasted pine nuts, toasted almonds, toasted sesame seeds (put the nuts and seeds on separate trays and put in the oven and toast for a couple of minutes on high, being careful not to burn)
  • custard powder, semolina, jelly cubes, pudding rice, ground rice, ground almonds, desiccated coconut
