Honey roasted spare ribs

This is a popular roast meal, cheap and easy to cook.  The down side is it does not leave much in the form of left overs or the potential to make stock.  But the attention to eating it makes up for it.  
  • spare ribs - enough for everyone
  • honey or maple syrup - lots
  • 4-5 cloves of garlic, peeled and bashed
  • olive oil
  • 1 tbsp Chinese five spice
  • 1 star anise
  1. Mix together the honey or maple syrup, garlic, olive oil and five spice.
  2. Slather this around the spare ribs so they are well coated.
  3. Leave to marinate for as long as possible, preferably overnight.
  4. Roast in a hot oven until cooked throughly but not dried out.
