I took my eye off the ball: 19th-25th November

This week I took my eye off the ball.  I got so engrossed in creating this website I forgot what it was all about. I need to tell you that I am a real novice when it comes to the digital age.  Last year I wasn't even on Facebook.  So to create a blog, make a website and all that that entails has taken a lot of courage, time and mental energy. What I have achieved in hours, someone more technically minded could probably have whipped up in an instant.  But it has been very exciting, and I have relished the opportunities to learn something new, and use the bit of my brain that lies dormant whilst changing nappies, singing lullabies and folding washing.  So exciting in fact, that one night, having worked till nearly midnight on this project, I lay in bed, buzzing. I was looking forward to getting on with it the next morning, creating mental lists of tasks to do and losing hours of much needed sleep as my mind raced.  I am ashamed to admit that setting up this website has so completely enveloped me that meals were late, food was left uncooked, children left to play on their own for hours.  
Luckily I live with Maths Geek, who noticed my crisis and took charge. He let me know when Princess Baby needed me. "Mum, she's been shouting now for ages. I think she's hungry. Please come and feed her."  On Sunday, after acknowledging how tired I was, he suggested that he cook supper.  So he wrote a list and off he went with his pocket money and Mrs Doubtfire, spending three pounds on cocktail sausages, crisps, juice cartons and jam tarts.  I subbed him the money for some chocolate biscuits.  He set up his bedroom with a play mat and toys for Princess Baby, a space on the floor to put all the food and a comfy place for me to relax. And there we all supped, listening to music and even playing a few party games.  The planning, literacy and numeracy skills involved in this feat made me feel slightly less guilty for the lack of effort on my part, justifying it as a "learning experience".
